The Youth Empowerment in STEM (YES) Fellowship Program
We aim to empower at-risk homeless youth and the homeless community by providing them with opportunities to develop STEM skills and become leaders in their communities. Through this program, we hope to promote self-sufficiency, foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and inspire a love for science, technology, engineering, and math.
Fellows will participate in a series of STEM workshops that will cover topics such as coding, robotics, and engineering. These workshops will be led by experienced professionals in STEM fields and will provide fellows with opportunities to ask questions and learn from experts in the field.
Each fellow will be paired with a mentor who is currently working in a STEM field. Mentors will provide guidance, advice, and support to fellows throughout the program.
Fellows will work on several hands-on projects throughout the program, which will allow them to apply what they have learned in the workshops and develop essential skills in teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
Fellows will participate in leadership development workshops that will help them develop skills in communication, public speaking, and team management. Fellows will also have the opportunity to take on leadership roles in the program and in their communities.
